Vanessa Rojas
Family Outreach Coordinator
Vanessa Rojas is a passionate advocate for prison and sentencing reform, dedicated to uplifting the voices of those directly impacted by the carceral system. A California native, Vanessa served four years in federal prison before being released through the First Step Act’s Compassionate Release provision. Her release was made possible after she wrote a letter to FAMM, which played a pivotal role in connecting her with the Federal Defenders of San Diego, who successfully filed and argued her compassionate release motion.
Since returning home, Vanessa has committed herself to advancing justice and systemic change. She is currently pursuing a degree in Law, Public Policy, and Society, with a focus on reforming the very systems that once confined her. Vanessa brings lived experience, insight, and unwavering determination to her advocacy, working to ensure that others have access to freedom, dignity, and opportunity.
