Join Us in Washington, D.C. for Families for Justice Reform Now Rally!
Join us at the U.S. Capitol to tell Congress that it must pass a criminal justice reform bill now, because justice reform can’t wait! At the Rally, you’ll meet other advocates and hear from formerly incarcerated people, families with loved ones in prison, national and local criminal justice reform leaders, and members of Congress about the need for justice reform now!

By airplane: If you are flying to Washington, DC, the closest airports are Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA), Baltimore-Washington International Airport (BWI), and Dulles International Airport (IAD). Ronald Reagan National Airport (DCA) is closest to downtown Washington, D.C. and the U.S. Capitol.
By train: If you are coming to Washington, D.C. by Amtrak or MARC train, trains arrive at Union Station, which is just a short walk from the U.S. Capitol.
By bus: There are many bus services that provide transportation to Washington, DC. BoltBus, Greyhound, and MegaBus are three companies that arrive at Union Station, which is just a short walk from the U.S. Capitol.
Below are some hotel and lodging options that are close to the U.S. Capitol and downtown Washington, DC. We cannot guarantee any availability of lodging. We urge you to book your lodging as early as possible, as Washington, DC, gets quite busy in the summer.

There are several ways to travel to the Families for Justice Reform Now Rally. We recommend taking a taxi, Uber, or Lyft or using the Metro system.
By Metro: The closest Metro stations to the Families for Justice Reform Now Rally are Capitol South (on the orange, blue, or silver lines) or Union Station (on the red line). Another nearby stop is Federal Center SW (on the orange, blue, or silver lines). The Rally site is a short walk from all three of these Metro stations.
By taxi, Uber, or Lyft: There are many reasonably priced taxi services in the Washington, DC area. Many drivers are also available using the Uber or Lyft rideshare apps on your smart phone. To get closest to the Families for Justice Reform Now Rally site, direct your driver to take you to the Library of Congress, which is right across the street from the Rally site in front of the Capitol.
By car: Plan extra travel time to drive to DC, and expect traffic, even in the middle of the day. Parking near the U.S. Capitol is limited, and most available parking will be on the street.

The weather in Washington, D.C. in July is very hot and humid, with occasional afternoon thunderstorms. The Families for Justice Reform Now Rally will take place rain or shine.
We recommend that you wear shoes you can walk long distances in comfortably, clothing that will keep you cool, and bring a small, foldable poncho in case of rain. You may also want to apply sunscreen before or during the Rally. A limited number of free Families for Justice Reform Now Rally T-shirts will be available at the registration table at the Rally site on July 10.

There will not be any portable toilets at the Rally site on July 10. The restrooms closest to the Rally site are (1) inside the Capitol Visitors Center, just a short walk from the Rally site, directly in front of the U.S. Capitol, and (2) inside the Library of Congress’s Jefferson Building, directly across the street from the Rally site. To enter either building to use a restroom, you will have to pass through a security checkpoint that includes a metal detector. You also cannot bring any food or liquid into the Capitol Visitors Center.
