WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today FAMM announced that Daniel Landsman, Vice President of Policy, is departing to become Government Affairs Manager at Niskanen Center. His last day with FAMM is January 23rd.
“Daniel has been a truly incredible colleague and trusted friend of the FAMMily. We commend him for his nine years of dedicated work and accomplishments to pass pivotal legislation impacting people across the country,” said Dr. Shaneva D. McReynolds, president of FAMM. “Although we will miss Daniel at FAMM, we are excited for his next chapter and continued success.”
As Vice President of Policy, Daniel worked with FAMM members, advocates and legislators to advance significant criminal justice legislation at both state and federal levels, including passage of the landmark bipartisan Federal Prison Oversight Act (FPOA), which established long-needed ombudsman and inspection requirements for the federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP).
Under Daniel’s leadership, FAMM has connected and fostered a national community of advocates and advanced state and federal policies to reduce extreme sentences, reduce prison overcrowding, and improve prison conditions. This includes legislation on compassionate release, second look laws, independent prison oversight, clemency advocacy, and more.
Daniel previously served as FAMM’s Director of Federal Legislative Affairs, in addition to working on criminal justice reform in New York state. Daniel received his B.A. and M.P.P. from The George Washington University.
