The wind blows hard across the prison yard
Moving, swiftly across the ground, until it spies
a woman found, her smiling face disappears to
reveal a simple tear rolling down her cheek.
Her breath heavy, she cannot speak as she runs her last
lap.
She thinks about her family so far away that she will see
again one day or times gone by, she remembers she finds
herself in this place.
Where the wind blows hard across the prison yard
Thinking and missing the ones she loves.
With no regrets and no remorse
with passion and conviction.
Her God by her side she will stay the course with beauty and pride.
A race she did not ask to run but now must finish since it’s begun….
