Not Guilty - FAMM

Not Guilty

An original song for your 1,000 stories project. I wrote it and have sung it with my group Synchronicity here at FCI Fort Dix.

“Not Guilty” (reggae beat)

(Verse) All of the tall prison walls you build, trying to keep us inside.
Picture a vast growing reservoir, that’s what we are. How can you keep us inside?
(Chorus) Not guilty for the way we feel. Not guilty. Your law is so unreal.
(Verse 2 – double verse) There is a higher morality than what your law has to say.
And when your law is a part of that morality, then will your people obey.
A rich man can purchase a better life, with all your laws up for sale.
But when the poor man who’s down and beat must steal to eat, how is it he that you jail?
(Chorus) Not guilty for the way we feel. Not guilty. Your law is so unreal.
Not guilty for our simple lives. Not guilty. It comes from deep inside.
