“Down But Not Out” (Time in the SHU/Hole)

Everyday I look for the light but close my eyes to lonely nights…
A broken heart, a shattered dream and stripped of my human rights.
I looked for many ways out and know God is who I need…
Hell is raining down on my soul as I long for the day I am freed.
Everyday I look into this steel mirror to a changed face of a changed person…
These concrete walls closing in on me as the conditions worsen.
I never envisioned myself locked away in this cold concrete cell…
Emotionally feeling like my soul is being dragged through hell.
Faith makes me struggle through another day as my future comes to a slow pace…
Mistakes and snakes led me to reality I never wanted to face.
As I watch my wife and kids go through the deepest emotional pain…
Taken away from the people I Love most leads to feelings I could never explain.
My mind stronger than these bars and walls looking towards my future and the rest of my life…
Longing for the time I can lay down with my best friend, better known as my Wife.
