Hello, Florida FAMM!
Throughout the month of August, the Florida Department of Corrections is holding a series of "Town Hall" meetings around the state, and I encourage all of our members to attend. Not only is this an excellent opportunity to express your opinions about mandatory minimum reform and to tell your story, it's also a fantastic way to spread FAMM's message and recruit new members in your area.
The first DOC town hall meeting is tonight (August 6) in Tampa at 6 PM. You can see the details for that event here. A calendar for the rest of the town hall meetings is available here. (Upcoming meetings include Ft. Myers, Tallahassee, Panama City, Orlando and Ft. Pierce.)
I suggest making copies of one or more of the fact sheets available at the Florida FAMM page to take with you to the meeting. I also suggest introducing yourself to everyone else in attendance. Tell them about FAMM, give them a flyer and tell them to check out our website. Our ability to affect change in Tallahassee depends on our ability to swell our ranks and increase the number of voices demanding reform, so if you can attend one or more of these meetings, please do! I'll do my best to make as many of these as I can, so please: say hello!
If you have any questions, please feel free to write or call me anytime. As always, thanks again for supporting FAMM.
Best,
Greg
