(Alton Telegraph) — Family meant everything to Eugenia Jennings, and she to her family, especially being the only and youngest girl by 10 years from the youngest of several brothers.
The love among the family permeated the Church of the Good Samaritans for Friday’s standing-room-only service celebrating the life of Jennings, with some of those paying their respects flowing out of the church doors. Approximately 200 people crowded into the sanctuary to remember the Alton woman who many hold as a symbol of strength and redemption, and who has been the only recipient of a commutation of a federal prison sentence from President Barack Obama to date.
