Calling all Orange Is the New Black Fans!

Post Date: July 5, 2014

Free-Piper-ShirtYou can rep your favorite TV show and support your favorite sentencing reform organization at the same time! “Free Piper” t-shirts are back and 100% of the proceeds go to FAMM. Check them out here!

And read about the origin of the “Free Piper” shirt:

In 2004, while Piper Kerman was serving time in a federal prison, her fiancé Larry decided honor the midway point of her sentence by making a few “Free Piper” T-shirts. He sold them to friends and family, and donated 100% of the proceeds to Families Against Mandatory Minimums (FAMM). Now, with the popularity of the Netflix show, “Orange Is the New Black” (based on Piper’s memoir of the same name), we’ve brought back the Free Piper tees. Once again, all of the proceeds will go to FAMM.

That’s a great thing help bring light about the federal system and help more people get involved.

Seriously? I think you could have come up with a better tshirt. There are millions of people who are still incarcerated, don’t you think their pictures should be on that shirt? The show in unrealistic in so many ways. Having done 11 years in federal prison I can say without a doubt the show does not give any inkling of the full emotional issues people deal with in prison.
