Resources for families and incarcerated people*

  • Looking for a lawyer?  If you are trying to find a lawyer to help you or a loved one, start with the lawyer referral service (LRS) run by your state or local bar association.  The American Bar Association has an online lawyer referral service locator tool.  The National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers also has a list of affiliate organizations that may be helpful.  Simply select your state, then contact the lawyer referral service closest to where you or your loved one are located.

  • Want to help your loved one in federal prison?  Click here for tips on advocating for someone incarcerated in a Bureau of Prisons facility.

  • Incarcerated or going to prison and looking for ways to involve your family and friends in your advocacy and reentry plans? Click here to download our guide.

  • Share your story with FAMM.  Are you or a loved one serving a mandatory sentence? We are interested in hearing from you. Click here to read about what kind of cases FAMM is looking for, how they are selected and how we use them. Then click here to download FAMM's case summary form.
